UW School of Law to host “Legal Education at the Crossroads”

The UW School of Law will host a working conference, Legal Education at the Crossroads — Ideas to Accomplishments: Sharing New Ideas for an Integrated Curriculum, September 5-7, 2008. The conference will be held on the UW campus at William H. Gates Hall, home to the law school.

The conference is intended to respond to suggestions from a Carnegie Foundation report, Educating Lawyers: Preparation for the Profession of Law.

Almost 90 deans and faculty from a wide range of schools around the country will present at the conference. Presentations will be of three types. On Saturday, September 6, at least twenty-two Showcase Stations organized around six themes will demonstrate what, why and how schools or individual faculty have accomplished curriculum innovations and provide materials to help other schools build on these efforts. These Showcase Stations will be followed by Workshops organized around the same themes to discuss proposals for innovation and provide assistance in developing those ideas. On Sunday morning, plenary sessions and small group discussions will address How to Make it Happen and Assessment.

Registration is required and closes August 22, 2008. See https://www.uwcle.org/register_legaled.php

Don’t wait to register and make your hotel reservation: The UW’s Husky football team opens their season against BYU on the conference weekend and convenient hotel space in Seattle is going fast.
